Things Talk seminar in LebanonIn Beirut, CCPA Lebanon in collaboration with HQ staff Denmark organised a five hours seminar for 112 primary education schoolteachers from the whole country.
The seminar was organised in cooperation with the Ministry of
Education and took place in a local Library. A total of 89 female and 20 male art teachers from all major groupings of Lebanon participated making the seminar a truly multicultural event, not to mention its fabulous atmosphere.
Mr Ragi Maasri, a local climate expert, introduced the participants to environmental subjects followed by introduction to the Things Talk project and information of how to use the project website www.thingstalk.net.
The project is an internationally oriented climate and waste art project aiming at awareness building among primary school children between the ages of 10 – 12. Also the project aspires to become a “children’s’ voice” at the UN Climate Summit being held in Copenhagen 7 – 18 December.
Second part of the seminar was a practical session where all the teachers had the opportunity to build sculptures in groups. At the end of the seminar a colourful art exhibition was arranged with some 40 imaginative sculptures.
There is no doubt that all participants will return to their respective school classes and implement the Things Talk project.
A minimum of 5,000 primary school children will go through the program during the coming months. The ministry’s responsible for the art teachers expressed her wish to introduce the project to all the public schools in Lebanon. ![]()
