Macedonia

Background
Open Fun Football Schools was introduced first time to Macedonia in 2000. From 2000 – 1009 175 Open Fun Football Schools has been implemented comprising more than 38,000 boys and girls from 7-11 years old. Open Fun Football Schools has further trained 2,800 voluntary coaches on regional seminars (3-5 days duration) in our specific fun football concept. Together with another 3,000 coach assistants and club officials the coaches have organised the above-mentioned Open Fun Football Schools activities on voluntary basis.

Donor structure
The Open Fun Football Schools has amongst others been funded by UEFA to use the promotion of grassroots football as vehicle to stimulate social cohesion and peaceful co-existence in Macedonia.

Further the governments of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland has supported Open Fun Football Schools as part of their Stability Pact Initiative to encourage peace and stability through capacity building of civil society organisations and cross border collaboration.

Also a strong local foundation and support has been achieved – from Municipalities, Clubs, Primary Schools, Football Federation, Ministries, Embassies, Private companies and wider local community support to finance local initiatives for their children.

Vision
CCPA-Open Fun Football Schools in Macedonia has a vision to serve as an integrator of all the institutions and organizations that work with children, through mutual cooperation, and with activity and education that follow our brand which is recognized by it’s basic principles of multi-ethnicity, gender equality, sport for all, social dimension and the fun concept.
Correspondingly CCPA – Open Fun Football Schools in Macedonia wants to use the Open Fun Football Schools activities for the promotion of a wide variety of different positive values, such as: healthy life style, safe and healthy environment, improvement of the sport lifestyle and supporter behaviour, etc. – considering the plans and programs of our donors.

Overall development target
We wish to develop a sustainable structure for Open Fun Football Schools in cooperation with stakeholders of the children’s grassroots universe and other organizations and institutions working with sport and / or children, while keeping the regional platform - activities with the other countries in the region.

National Strategic Targets 2010-12
1. To keep and respect the basic principles of the Open Fun Football Schools.
2. To generate income (financial and non-financial means) to support the ongoing activities of Open Fun Football Schools.
3. To expand the scope of roles and responsibilities of volunteers (leaders and instructors)
4. To define the vision for the structure and purpose of the future regional platform
5. To identify how to increase the impact of Open Fun Football Schools in Macedonia
6. To build a wider NGO network around Open Fun Football Schools Macedonia.

Status
CCPA-Open Fun Football Schools has managed to build good relations and cooperation with all the stakeholders from the children’s grassroots universe. We are however still depending on funds raised from UEFA and the governments of Sweden and Norway. Especially our cooperation with the National FA has improved during the past years to mutual benefit for both organisations. Thus, our programme assistant is representing the Football Federation of Macedonia in the UEFA Female Football Committee and UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee. Further in 2008 the Football Federation of Macedonia endorsed our Open Fun Football Schools coach education (C-license) and was also involved in the organization of the girls’ football network seminar.
